Pastor Ronnie King had a burden to start a Deaf Baptist fellowship meeting that would be shorter and easier for people who live out west to attend. He obtained permission from the Deaf Baptist Fellowship of America (DBFA) board to use the "Deaf Baptist Fellowship" part of their name. They agreed, and the Deaf Baptist Fellowship of the West (DBFW) was established in 2011.
